Why is Supplement Quality so Important?

The dietary supplement industry is massive! Research estimates the industry to be worth approximately $50B in the US in 2020 (NBJ), with some forecasts anticipating the global market will reach $230.7B by 2027.

Clearly, consumers all over the world are paying closer attention than ever to the role of nutritional support in wellness, as opposed to neglecting their health and waiting to treat the symptoms of chronic disease.

The growing focus on wellness is exactly where we need to be heading. However, nutritional supplements are far from equal, and the increasing demand from consumers and explosion in the number of available options makes a focus on supplement effectiveness and quality more important than ever before.

But with so many brands and varieties of supplements available, how can consumers decide among the thousands of options which supplements, and which manufacturers and suppliers of supplements will be ideal for them.

For example, David Grotto, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association (ADA), provides good advice to consumers via WebMD:

“First, it’s important to remember that dietary supplements are designed to supplement your diet, not to replace nutritious foods,” Grotto cautions. Also, he notes “the importance of purchasing nutritional supplements from an impeccable source. Choose a respected brand to be sure what is on the label is safe and exactly what is found in the product.”

Finally, check out the company’s site documenting the effectiveness of the product. For example, the foundation of Greenfilled’s nutritional products is TetraSOD®, a nutritional derivative of the highest quality marine phytoplankton that is extraordinarily rich in the SOD (SuperOxide Dismutase) enzyme. A plethora of scientific research has validated SOD as a master antioxidant that is critical to the healthy function of the body’s natural antioxidant defense systems. Greenfilled obtains its phytoplankton, the microscopic organism that is the foundation of the ocean’s food supply and responsible for more than 50 percent of the oxygen we breathe through careful cultivation in eco-friendly and sustainable facilities to produce the most bioactive, nutrient rich phytoplankton on earth.

Through careful attention to ingredients, quality and trusted suppliers, today’s consumers have access to higher quality and more effective nutritional supplementation than ever before, to achieve unprecedented vitality and wellness. Increasingly, consumers are realizing the greatest investment they can make is in wellness, to support their optimal health.
